Discover MTS
A warm welcome to The Mullin Theatre School - fondly known to our pupils as MTS. We are an independent dance school based in Blackpool, Lancashire and we support our pupils to thrive through their love of dance, singing and drama. Whilst here our pupils learn new skills, make lifelong friendships and enhance their confidence.
The school was established in 1992 by Lynda Mullin MIDTA. Lynda has been part of the dancing world from the age of 3 and has a wide experience of dance teaching. Lynda ran the dance school from its creation 1992 having previously worked as an assistant to several well respected examiners in the theatre dance field. Since those early days, children and adults have been entered for examinations with the International Dance Teachers Association. Lynda retired from teaching at the Theatre School in 2010 and handed the reins over to her assistant Vicky Dobson AIDTA who has taught alongside Lynda for 5 years, Vicky has continued to strive to ensure the 100% pass rate in exams has been maintained. The children and adults work extremely hard in both lessons and to put together fabulous shows performing in venues such as the world famous Winter Gardens Opera House, Grand Theatre and Blackpool Pleasure Beach Show Venues
Many of the older students have taken or are taking GCSE or A-Level dance/performing arts and have all gained fantastic results, and syllabus exams can be used to assist with UCAS points for university. Past students have performed on-board cruise ships, worked for Disney, been selected to attend Royal Ballet Workshops, successfully auditioned as part of the Animation team for Nickelodeon Land, work with UK based dance companies or are studying at dance colleges throughout the UK. For the past 2 years we have had numerous pupils who have been selected to form part of a local youth dance company. Performance has become a huge part in the pupils lives and many are now considering performing arts or teaching as a future career path.
We're proud of our school and we'd love you to join and be a part of it too. We offer classes in Ballet, Tap, Freestyle and Muscial Theatre.

"Warmth, welcoming, relaxed is just a small insight to this lovely dance school…. From taking my daughter aged 6 with no dance experience she has developed into a confident mature performer who thrives in ‘show’ performance and this has definitely guided her to where she is today. A love for dance and performing in their many shows has turned a new hobby into a passion. Thank You Mullin Theatre School."

Vicky's Story
As Principal and lead teacher here at The Mullin, I've been involved in dance since the tender age of 5.
As a youngster I studied RAD ballet and ISTD Tap and Modern and even gained some valuable work experience working as a Butlin’s Redcoat! I went on to broaden my skills further by regularly work as a Redcoat - and Bluecoat - during my holidays from college and also worked as part of a dance/performance duo alongside a cabaret act, where we performed in venues across Blackpool.
I passed up the opportunity to go to University, instead I chose to continue my dance career, performing and doing what I love. Over my years as a performer I have worked throughout the UK and abroad, which has offered me amazing opportunities and allowed me to experience dancing on some of the world’s most famous stages!
But it was when I began my teacher training here at The Mullin Theatre School, under the instruction of its former principal Lynda Mullin, that I found my true passion.
I've been fortunate enough to be mentored by a teacher with a huge amount of teaching experience, both within her own school and for various dance colleges. It was because of Lynda and The Mullin that I discovered how much I wanted to be able to teach dance; to be able to combine my love for children, with my lifelong passion for dance - it was the perfect career move for me and I can honestly say I've never looked back.
I have now been with The Mullin Theatre School for over 10 years, during which time I successfully became a Member of the IDTA.
Ultimately it all led to a very proud moment back in 2010, when I took over The Mullin Theatre School as principal, from my mentor and its founder Lynda Mullin.
Today my wish is to continue growing the school from strength to strength, building on Lynda's track record of success. It gives me no greater pleasure then to nurture the talent of our children and young people here at The Mullin - providing them with a lifelong passion and appreciation for dance.

"My daughter started dancing at The Mullin Theatre school at 4. She is now nearly 10 years of age. She has made some super friends and she quickly overcame her shyness and anxiety. She loves nothing more than going to her dance lessons and her smile when on stage at one of her many dance shows makes me as a parent very proud and happy.."

"My daughter has enjoyed every minute at The Mullin Theatre School for 10 years, she started off extremely shy and quiet and has come on leaps and bounds gaining huge amounts of confidence all thanks to the time and support Miss Vicky gives her. My son has also enjoyed dancing for 7 years he particularly enjoys the shows he participates in, so much so, the dance show DVD’s are watched every weekend. As a bonus its also increased my social circle with lots of fun times."
