We are an IDTA accredited dance school and the safety and protection of our pupils is of uppermost importance to us.
We've detailed below the various policies and standards we have in place in order to ensure The Mullin Theatre School is a safe, supportive and welcoming environment for your child.
The Mullin Theatre School prides itself on being a happy learning environment with enjoyment and education being at the root of all our classes. This policy exists to maintain this environment and enable pupils to reach to their full potential.
Disruptive behaviour in the class will not be tolerated; class teachers reserve the right to ask pupils to leave the class at any time, if they feel that their behaviour is disturbing the enjoyment and education of other pupils. If a member of staff feels that the behaviour of an individual is continuously disruptive, the parents will be informed and the pupil may be asked to leave.
Regular attendance is essential for progression of individuals. Pupils must always be prompt for class, and attend regularly. If pupils are absent for any reason the School must be informed. There are no concessions or deductions for classes not attended.
Behaviour in other areas e.g. changing rooms and toilets, must be acceptable and in line with the School’s behaviour policy. Changing rooms are checked on a regular basis and must be respected by all pupils. The School accepts no responsibility for damage or loss of any personal belongings.
All pupils must wear the correct uniform for classes. Staff at the School will advise anyone who is uncertain about what to wear. Uniform can be ordered from the school on a regular basis.
The Mullin Theatre School takes the welfare of its pupils very seriously and has a policy for making sure that photographs and videos of its pupils will not be misused.
As the parent of guardian of the pupil, I understand that The Mullin Theatre School may:
1. Arrange for photographs or videos to be taken of any pupil taking part in school activities , e.g. classes or public performances. All such official photographs or videos will only be taken by a photographer approved by The Mullin Theatre School.
2. Use any such photographs or videos in published material relating to the school. Examples of these uses are:
Brochures
Posters
The School Website
Videos or Photographs of public performances for sale to friends and family of pupils.
The name of the pupil(s) will not be attached to any photographs published by The Mullin Theatre School without your written consent. Where the pupils name has been made public as part of a performance (e.g. in an announcement or a printed programme) then it may be included in a video sold to friends and family of pupils.
3. Ban the use of cameras or video cameras (including those in mobile phones or any other multifunction device) on the premises where it holds its classes or in any performance or rehearsal for a performance staged by The Mullin Theatre School, other than by a photographer approved by The Mullin Theatre School. Apart from performances in a public location for example a school fete you should assume this ban is in place and should ask the Principal of the school for permission before taking photographs or videos.
4. Your agreement to the taking of photographs and videos as described in paragraphs 1 and 2 and the restriction in paragraph 3 is a condition of the pupil being part of The Mullin Theatre School. By signing the enrolment form you give your agreement to this.
Upon joining the School you must complete an enrolment form, this form is completely confidential and is protected under the Data Protection Act.
Our payment system for the core subjects (Ballet, Tap, Freestyle, & Musical Theatre) is paid on a monthly basis in advance, payable at the beginning of each month. There are no concessions or deductions for classes not attended. There will be charge of £5 per month for fees that are paid seven or more days late. All cheques must be made payable to The Mullin Theatre School, no cheques under £20 can be accepted. (Weekly payments can be arranged under the same terms as above)
Pupils are entered for examinations when they are confident and have acquired the necessary standard for each level, enabling each child to progress at their own pace. Exams at the school are not compulsory. All examinations at the school are assessed by external examiners from the International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA), this is the body that provides the syllabus that we work too.
Payment for examinations must be paid one week prior to the exam date, in the payment envelope provided. If candidates require a specific time e.g. am or pm, the management of the Dance Centre must be informed three weeks prior to the examination. Although the management will endeavour to meet individual needs other candidates must also be taken into consideration. The timetable for exams cannot be changed after it has been posted on the notice board in the reception area.
